The Karnataka government has approved the ‘Nirantara’ programme to introduce an AI-based facial recognition system for tracking student attendance in government and aided schools. With ₹2.83 crore sanctioned, the initiative aims to improve accuracy, transparency and efficiency, while upgrading the SATS platform to ensure seamless operations over the next decade.
