The Kailasa temple is a Hindu temple carved from a single rock in Ellora. The temple, one of Ellora's largest rock-cut ancient Hindu temples, is among the 34 monasteries and cave temples collectively called the Ellora Caves. Also known as the Kailasanatha temple, its construction was commissioned by 8th-century Rashtrakuta king Krishna I.
