Kangra farmer grows 6,000 off-season broccoli, inspires others

Balbir Saini, a farmer of Patoula village near Kangra town, has successfully grown 6,000 late-season broccoli plants in March, an achievement that is now inspiring farmers in the district. The off-season market has responded favourably with broccoli at present fetching ₹100 per kilogram at local mandis, sometimes rising to ₹500 per kilogram during severe shortage periods.
