An Abu Dhabi-bound IndiGo flight was diverted to Ahmedabad about 1-2 hours after taking off from Kannur. It was reportedly diverted as volcanic ash from Ethiopia's Hayli Gubbi volcano spread across the Red Sea and began flowing towards Delhi and Jaipur. The volcano erupted for the first time in recorded history, sending a 10-15km tower of smoke into the air.
