Karnataka bans sale of loose cigarettes, beedis

Karnataka government has banned the sale of loose cigarettes, beedis and chewing tobacco products in order to restrict smoking in public spaces. While a first violator of the ban will face up to one-year jail term or a fine of ₹1,000 or both, repeated offence will attract up to 2 years of jail or a fine of ₹3,000 or both.
