Karnataka government on Wednesday passed Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowment Bill that allows government to collect tax from temples. The bill allows government to collect 10% of the income of temples that have revenue of more than ₹1 crore and 5% from those with revenues ranging between ₹10 lakh-₹1 crore. Karnataka BJP chief Vijayendra Yediyurappa called the bill "anti-Hindu".
