Karnataka kidney disease deaths triple in 10 years

Karnataka recorded a more than threefold rise in deaths linked to kidney and genitourinary diseases over 10 years, with MCCD data showing an increase from 5,940 in 2016 to 18,730 in 2025. Renal failure accounted for 14,960 deaths in 2025. Doctors cited diabetes, hypertension, obesity and changing lifestyles among factors behind the rise.
