Karnataka government has proposed to increase the maximum daily working hours from nine to 10 and allow up to 12 hours of work a day including overtime. The proposal is facing criticism from labour unions. Karnataka government, in its draft amendment, reportedly cited the Centre's directions to all states to consider amending hour limits through legislative or regulatory changes appropriately.
