Former DMK chief and five-time Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi had moveable assets worth ₹13.42 crore, and owned no car, house or agricultural land. He had donated his house, to be used as a free hospital for the poor after his and his wife's lifetime. The DMK chief had declared his assets in an affidavit in 2016.
