The Madras High Court dismissed all petitions against burials at the Marina Beach, and allowed DMK chief and former CM M Karunanidhi to be buried there. Earlier, the ruling AIADMK had refused to allot the land citing legal complications. The DMK had requested burial space next to Karunanidhi's mentor and DMK founder CN Annadurai at the beach.
