Kenya's middle distance runner Conseslus Kipruto set a new Olympic record in the men's 3000-metre steeplechase event after clocking 8:03.28 minutes in the final at the Rio Olympics on Wednesday. He surpassed the previous best of 8:05.51 minutes, set by another Kenyan in 1988. Interestingly, Kenya has won every men's steeplechase Olympic gold medal since the 1984 Los Angeles Games.
