BJP MLA Mrinal Saikia has warned that rising Kenyan tea imports could devastate Assam’s tea industry. He said warehouses are overflowing with unsold stock while prices of green leaves have plunged below ₹14/kg. Saikia urged policy intervention, noting that cheap Kenyan teas are blended with Assam produce, threatening livelihoods of one million workers.
