A gay couple has moved Kerala High Court seeking to strike down certain provisions of the Special Marriage Act, 1954, which deny them permission to get their marriage registered. Considering their petition on Monday, HC sought views of state and central governments on the matter. The challenged provisions are "illegal, unconstitutional" as they violate their fundamental rights, the couple said.
