The Kerala High Court on Monday allowed R Sugathan, BJP councillor in Thiruvananthapuram, to take oath inside the Viyyur central jail. Sugathan is detained under the Kerala Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act, 2007, and faces at least 19 cases under the charges. The court had earlier ordered Sugathan and 20 other BJP councillors to retake their oaths, taken in December 2025.
