Multiple agencies came together to give a fresh lease of life to a Nepali woman in Kerala. The Ernakulam General Hospital made history as the first district-level government hospital in India to perform a heart transplant. The surgery was conducted after the heart was flown in from Thiruvananthapuram, where the donor, S. Shibu, had been declared brain dead following an accident.
