Kerala witnessed red rain for two months in 2001

Kerala witnessed red coloured rain between July 25 and September 23, 2001, which was first thought to be caused by fallout from a hypothetical meteor burst. Later tests revealed that the colour was due to airborne spores from local algae. People also assumed that the red rain was a result of alien activity.
