Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli became the third Indian and the seventh player overall to cross 6,000 runs in T20s. He achieved the feat in 184 T20 matches, the second fastest behind Chris Gayle (162 T20s). Kohli also became the first captain and second player to have registered two centuries in a single IPL season.
