Kolkata Police on Wednesday tried to douse a fire during the 'Bharat Bandh' called by forum of central trade unions opposing the Centre’s "anti-worker, anti-farmer and pro-corporate" policies. They said they submitted a 17-point demand charter to Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya last year but received no serious response. Over 25 crore workers across sectors are likely to join the strike.
