On eve of India’s 79th Independence Day, women in Kolkata are preparing to commemorate first anniversary of “Reclaim the Night” movement. This year’s demonstrations will take place at two of the city’s busiest public spaces, Jadavpur and Rabindra Sadan. The movement began a year ago following the rape and murder of a postgraduate medical trainee at RG Kar Medical College.
