Ladakh has got five new districts, Nubra, Sham, Changthang, Zanskar and Dras, taking the total number of districts to seven. Announcing the move on Monday, Ladakh Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena called it a "historic day for Ladakh". LG added, "Creation of new districts, apart from bringing governance closer to citizens, will create new avenues for growth, employment and entrepreneurship."
