Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has approved a new excise policy for Ladakh, allowing the retail sale of hard liquor in addition to beer, wine and ready-to-drink beverages. The number of retail vends would be increased from two to 20. Additionally, guest houses and homestays have been allowed to serve liquor with requisite licence, as only hotels could serve it earlier.
