Khenrab Phuntsog, a 42-year-old wildlife guard in Ladakh, has rescued 47 snow leopards over two decades. During rescues, he uses a blanket and net to safely capture the animals, as tranquillisers can harm them. In the early 2000s, he conducted rescues without equipment. Ecotourism in the region has reduced snow leopard killings, with awareness rising among locals.
