Freedom fighter Lala Lajpat Rai was born on January 28, 1865, in Punjab's Dhudike area. A part of the Lal Bal Pal trio also including Bal Gangadhar Tilak, and Bipin Chandra Pal, Rai was popularly known as 'Punjab Kesari'. The promoter of Swadeshi Movement, he died on November 17, 1928, and his death is celebrated as Martyrs' Day in Odisha.
