Largest new Moon crater found, named McGetchin

NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter discovered the largest newly formed crater in the solar system on the Moon. Named McGetchin, it measures 222 meters wide and 43 meters deep, formed between April–May 2024 by a comet or asteroid the size of a 3–6 story building. It dwarfs the previous record of ~70 meters.
