Ramesh Bishnoi, a cousin of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, said their family has always been wealthy and Lawrence's father owns nearly 110 acres of land in the village. "He always wore expensive clothes and shoes. Even now, his family spends ₹35-40 lakh annually on him in jail," he told Indian Express. Lawrence's ancestral village is in Punjab's Fazilka district.
