Assam Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday said only those who have studied Assamese till Class 10 will be eligible to apply for state government jobs. Sarma added that this rule will not be applicable to three Barak Valley districts and Bodoland Territorial Autonomous Districts. However, similar clauses will be in place there with regard to Bengali and Bodo respectively.
