American inventor Leo Fender, who co-developed world's first mass-produced solid body electric guitar, never learned how to play the instrument. Interestingly, Fender was an accountant before he lost his job and decided to pursue his hobby of playing with electronics. Born on August 10, 1909, he founded Fender Electric Instrument Manufacturing Company, the world's leading guitar manufacturer.
