Lithuania becomes 1st EU country to end Russian gas imports

Lithuania will no longer import gas from Russia to meet its domestic needs, becoming the first European Union (EU) member country to break its energy dependence on Moscow, the Lithuanian energy ministry said on Saturday. All gas for Lithuania's domestic consumption will be supplied via Klaipeda’s liquified natural gas (LNG) terminal. The terminal, called 'Independence', was inaugurated in 2014.
