Liverpool criticised for placing staff on furlough amid COVID-19 lockdown

Premier League side Liverpool have been criticised for placing their non-playing staff on the UK government's furlough scheme. As per the scheme, firms can claim 80% of their employees' wages from the government. Meanwhile, the Premier League players' body has refused to a 30% pay cut contending that the government would lose revenue earned through tax by the move.
