Logging warms Himalayan forests, harming birds

A 11-year study in Arunachal Pradesh showed that selective logging causes microclimates to become significantly hotter and drier. Small songbirds, unable to adapt to this thermal stress, lose body mass and have shorter lifespans. Protecting dense forest canopies, which act as natural air conditioners, is crucial for the survival of these heat-sensitive tropical species.
