Longer lives could sharply raise India’s retirement needs

Saurabh Mukherjea said retirement planning assumptions may underestimate longevity and rising living costs. Using a 35-year-old spending ₹1 lakh a month, he estimated that a corpus of ₹5.5 crore could rise to ₹25 crore under higher inflation assumptions. He also argued that longer lifespans, medical costs and changing careers could increase retirement requirements.
