Scientists at University of Massachusetts Amherst warned that declining populations of overlooked creatures like spiders could be a "real nightmare". Terming this as "insect apocalypse", the study said insects and arachnids are vital for pollination, pest control and monitoring air and water quality. It also found nearly 90% of North America’s insect and arachnid species lack conservation status.
