Lieutenant Colonel Prasad Shrikant Purohit, acquitted in 2008 Malegaon blast case, has been promoted to the rank of Colonel. He was among the seven accused acquitted by a special NIA court on July 31. Notably, six people were killed and around 95 were injured in the blast which occurred when an explosive device strapped to a bike exploded.
