L&T MD SN Subrahmanyan said the company, which employs about 3.75 lakh labourers, is short of about 40,000 labourers. "We're not getting those labourers," Subrahmanyan said, adding that government's schemes are maybe allowing the workers to not have the need to come to project sites. Increased projects in other countries may also be giving them better employment opportunities, he added.
