Machado returns to Venezuela after year in exile

Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado returned to Venezuela on Sunday after nearly a year in exile, confirmed by spokesman David Smolansky. She had previously been in hiding to avoid arrest before leaving to accept the Nobel Peace Prize. Smolansky called her return "a major step toward democratic transition" and free presidential elections.
