Macron vows action against 'sowers of chaos' amid protests, says 'Violence has no place'

French President Emmanuel Macron vowed to prosecute "those who sow chaos" as protests turned violent. "There's no place for violence in our Republic," he said, adding that such people only want to "tear down institutions and…prevent others from peacefully expressing their grievances". Lakhs of people took to the streets over inflation, rising living costs and deteriorating public services.
