The hearing on the appeals concerning the lighting of Karthigai Deepam at the summit of Thirupparankundram hill began on Monday, 15 December, before the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court. The Division Bench comprising Justice G Jayac handran and Justice KK Ramakrishnan heard the matter, and adjourned the case to Tuesday, 16 December.
