Kerala High Court observed that magic mushrooms are neither scheduled narcotic substances nor a mixture under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 (NDPS Act). Justice PV Kunhikrishnan held that although magic mushrooms contain small amounts of psilocybin, they couldn't be considered a narcotic drug. "It's only fungi," court observed while granting bail to a man in an NDPS case.
