A team of Chinese seismologists has published a study warning of a heightened risk of magnitude 8 earthquakes across China and neighbouring regions. The scientists have identified patterns linking seismic cycles to fluctuations in the Earth's rotation. They have identified six major earthquake 'active periods' in the area. Their study has been published in journal 'Geodesy and Geodynamics'.
