Maha clears draft anti-conversion Bill; permission mandatory before conversion

The Maharashtra government has cleared a draft anti-conversion Bill. The Bill makes it mandatory to seek permission from authorities before converting to another religion. A person wishing to change their religion must give a 60-day notice to the authorities, officials said. The conversion must be registered within 25 days, failing which it will be considered null and void, they added.
