The Maharashtra legislative panel has received a record 12,750 suggestions and objections to the Special Public Security Bill, 2024, the highest in the state's history. The bill aims to grant the state sweeping powers against "urban naxals". However, civil society has criticised the bill, citing potential misuse against individuals who voice dissent.
