The Maharashtra government will introduce a law against beef smuggling, said Minister of State for Home (Rural), Pankaj Bhoyar. He revealed that 2,849 cases related to cow slaughter, transportation, and sale of beef were recorded in the state from 2022 to June 2025, with 1,724 tonnes of beef seized. Around 57 tonnes were seized at Lonavala in March.
