Maharashtra creates most solid waste in India

With an astounding 26,820 tonnes of solid waste per day (TPD), Maharashtra has topped the list of most solid waste producing states in India, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). Uttar Pradesh, which generates 19,190 TPD solid waste, is ranked second. Cities like Pune, Mumbai and Bangalore were found to be the major contributors of municipal waste.
