Palghar administration has asked authorities to remain alert over possible spread of Congo fever in the Maharashtra district. Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever is transmitted from one animal to another by a specific type of tick, a circular read. "It's transmitted to humans through contact with the blood of infected animals and by eating the meat of infected animals," it stated.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new Pamban Bridge in Tamil Nadu on Sunday, marking the opening of India's first vertical lift railway sea bridge. The 2.07-kilometre-long bridge spans the Palk Strait. The 72.5-meter navigational span can be lifted up to 17 meters, allowing larger ships to pass underneath. The new bridge is 3 meters higher than the existing one.

India's first vertical lift sea bridge in Tamil Nadu, new Pamban Bridge, has been constructed with stainless steel reinforcement, high-grade protective paint, and fully welded joints. The 2.07-kilometre-long bridge's 72.5-metre navigational span can be lifted up to 17 metres, allowing larger ships to pass underneath. Its special polysiloxane coating ensures longevity in harsh marine environment.

Canadian Parliament under lockdown as man barricades himself inside

Security forces locked down the Canadian Parliament on Saturday after a man barricaded himself in the East Block section, police said. A warning has been issued for anyone in East Block to seek shelter in the nearest room, close and lock all doors, and hide. Anyone who was not in the immediate area was warned to stay away.

US think tank says Trump's tariffs on India must be cut to 10%, calls existing ones senseless

Right-leaning think tank American Enterprise Institute (AEI) listed "corrected" reciprocal tariffs President Donald Trump should impose on imports instead of the current ones. AEI said correcting tariffs' formula would reduce them to about a "fourth of their stated level" and added that existing rates have "no economic sense". The list noted tariffs on Indian imports should be 10%, not 26%.
