As of June 30, 2024, the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has recognized 1.40 lakh entities as startups in India. According to Minister Jitin Prasada, the number of DPIIT-recognised startups State/UT-wise has shown that Maharashtra tops the list with 25,044 registered startups. Karnataka is second with 15,019 startups, followed by Delhi with 14,734 startups.
