Maharashtra has been the most corrupt state in India for three years in a row, as per National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) data. The state recorded 1,016 corruption cases in 2016, which is around 23% of the total corruption cases in India during the year. Odisha was placed second with 569 recorded corruption cases, while Kerala (430) was placed third.
