Maharashtra passes Public Security Bill against left-wing extremism

The Maharashtra Assembly on Thursday passed the Public Security Bill 2024, targeting Maoist and radical left-wing threats. It empowers authorities to ban individuals or groups promoting violence, with a three-member panel reviewing cases. CM Devendra Fadnavis said, "This isn't intended to silence opposition," adding that arrests can't be made unless a person belongs to banned organisation.
