“The original Kaveri engine project is now closed,” confirmed DRDO Chairman Dr. Samir V. Kamat. He explained that the engine couldn’t meet the thrust requirements of the Tejas fighter and hence will not power it. However, a dry version or derivative of the Kaveri engine is now being developed for use in India's upcoming Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicles (UCAVs).
