Malaysian state appoints new sultan, expected to be elected king

The Malaysian state of Pahang has appointed Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah as the new Sultan. Tengku Abdullah is expected to become Malaysia's new king after Sultan Muhammad V abdicated last week. The Malaysian King is elected on a rotational basis from the sultans of the country's nine states, with Pahang state set to provide the next king.
