The Maldives' ex-Vice President Ahmed Adeeb has been sentenced to 20 years in jail after he pleaded guilty to money laundering and embezzlement under ex-President Abdulla Yameen's order. The sentence, which also covers charges of corruption and possession of an unlicensed firearm, will be shortened by one year because Adeeb served time after a previous conviction on the same charges.
